Can you tell me how to create the sound of a horse's whinny?
Asking for a friend--no really, my student is part of a chorus that is doing Sleighride this Christmas, he would be much obliged if you can come up with a technique for this sound.

I'm not sure about 'any' sound, but certainly a lot of them. Salty Holmes did a pretty good job with a sort of child's voice. It's pretty easy to do a European sounding police siren, but I've had a hard time getting a U.S. sounding siren.

Gnarly, now that I think about it, if I had a sound I wanted to imitate on harmonica I might try playing a sample of that sound into a tuner to see the general pattern of notes.

@nacoran That's why I asked--the pattern of a horse's neigh is a descending chromatic line, doesn't seem to translate well to harp.

I bet you could retune a harmonica for that. The Gnarley Whinny.
Maybe do a horse on the blow notes and a donkey or a goose on the draw?
Or maybe another whinny but in a minor scale?
Just kidding.
Almost.
Where is my file....

Trumpet.
That's what I would use for a horse whinny.

However, you guys are welcome to try it on harp.
