who was there?????I was in long bien 1969-70.....93rd medivac long bihn.....a medic.....and just a kid....18-19.....it was a prolonged nightmare.....of course will not violate the creed.....guess Ive already said enough
I'm watching that documentary series as well. I have the deepest respect for anyone who found themselves in the middle of that insanity. I wasn't there. The US exited a few years before I would have had to make a decision. I have two buddies, both a few years older than me who went. Both purple hearts. One wounded via bamboo booby trap, never healed 100%. He is deceased now. He definitely had a lust for life when he got back, that I believe was informed by what he experienced over there. His motto: We're only here for a short time, might as well be a good time. And I can testify, he LIVED that creed. And I lived a piece of it with him, we did some serious partying back in the day.
RIP Greg - You are missed.
Lastly, if we're offering our favorite Vietnam Blues. This would be mine.
Junior Wells and Buddy Guy,Viet Cong Blues, the best war song .. Also I spent 1969 in Tay Ninh at the black virgin mt. doing demo. and I carried a MB harp with me.

I was in the Army from 1974 to 1977. The last of the Army troops left in 1973 so I didn't have to go there but I served with a lot of guys who were there and they were/are fine people. I saw all 10 episodes of the Vietnam War PBS series and I thought for the most part it was fair and balanced. Ken Burns is a great documentary filmmaker. He did a series on Jazz. I wish he would do a series on Blues too. By the way, thank you Sarge and groyster1 for your combat service in Vietnam.
