In another tread the signature "hvyj" suggested that an EV PL35 microphone could be the ticket for me, in my pursuit of a warmer, less harsh and metallic, sound in my 5W amp.

I´ve been trying to find a store that holds them here in Gothenburg, Sweden but no joy. I´m always reluctant to buy stuff blindly (even if this one isn´t terribly expensive), so I wonder, does anyone have a video of a PL 35 w/ harmonica

Well, I tried to post one a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn't get it to post from FaceBook. I was playing through a PL 35 w/a Blows Me Away in line VC straight into a Fender Princeton RI.

Btw, I went to a very loud jam last Friday with the same rig, but I decided to use my 545 Ultimate instead in order to get more cut.

Can't you order one on line from a vendor that allows you to return it if u don't like it?

Each player/mic/amp combination gives different sound possibilities. You cannot separate the three. The mic might work for you with your specific amp, or might not offer the sound you want.

IMHO, the EV PL 35 will deepen the timbre and smooth the treble"edge" of whatever you play through it. I've been playing it regularly in different situations and with different amps for several months now, so I think I have a broad enough base of experience with it to be able to generalize. I don't use it in situations where I desperate need to cut because it does take that edge off.

A PL35 is often used to mic drums. Maybe you can find a music store that's heavy on percussion sales (4Sound?) and they'll have one for you to try in the store...or a recording studio (Apparat? Swedish Sound? Top Floor?). I know, it's a weird work around for the problem but the worst that happens is you ask and they say "No". If it works out you get a "test drive" that costs you nothing.

@hvyj: Yes, I just discovered that Thomann has a return clause! Not to sharp of me to have missed that before, but better now than never.

@BnT: Unfortunately the one drum/percussion oriented store in this town upped and left. Strangely enough Electro Voice -- who I thought was big globally -- is very poorly represented in Swedish music stores.
