I have really been digging the Hollywood Fats band lately. Is there any band around these days that could come close to what they could do?

Al Blake gives a fascinating interview on the origin of the band and the genius of Fats + some terrific quotes and a funny Junior Wells story.

Once I started, I had to listen all the way to the end!

My employer gave me a $50 gift card for local music store. Their Blues section is small and mainly taken up with Beth hart and joe bonnamassa releases, but I did see a 2cd set of Hollywood fats band/Hollywood blu flames.
Worth picking up? I haven't heard them. My friend is a big fan but we have quite different taste in a lot of things so I was hesitant to get it on that basis.

Good Lord, SuperBee. Get that CD already.

I cannot overstate how influential this band has been. Not just personally, but in the blues world. They were in large part responsible for the modern West coast blues sound.
