Haruo Nakajima - Japanese actor who played Godzilla originally - brought sadness and pathos to the role - also played Mothra and King Kong.

I grew up on these movies - especially Sat Afternoon Monster Matinee - hosted by Ghoulardi!

I've never seen a Godzilla movie. Did Japan export them to America more than to the UK?

Us yanks imported the first Godzilla movie, added a few scenes w/Raymond Burr and dubbed in English.

You Brits were too involved looking for Medicinal Compound and wondering why The Fog on the Tyne was All Mine at that time.

Yeah, sharpharp, all I know is that Godzilla is an allegory, of some sort, of the nuclear threat, so it's postwar.

Rodan was among that group of films back then. Rodan was my favorite.

My favorite has always been "Destroy All Monsters." Nakajima played three separate roles in that one (Godzilla, Baragon, and a military advisor)!

(Edited because I don't spell very well on my cellphone, apparently!)
