Jawbone and Jolene are playing Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, at Northwoods Inn, Best Western hotel, Crescent City, CA., 9 to 11 p.m.
Our roots/blues duo has all 3 nights set and will be doing both covers, and originals from our three cd's.

If you're in the area this will be the place to be for live music this weekend!

1847- hope you're on the way already!

Buz- destiny is, well.....destiny. We're destined to play on the edge of the Pacific, not on a mountain!

Last night Jolene was just off the chain. Her guitar work, vocals, and song choices were outstanding! We had recently added two fresh covers, one was SBII's Bring It On Home To You, which came off very well indeed. Another was a David Bowie song from the late 90's, Seven, which has special meaning to Jo. She was just way out the gate on that one, and I got to assist with harp parts based on a slide guitar part Bowie's guy did back when.

We also have added more of our originals when we play out and this sometimes gets a few CD's sold. She actually kicked off the night with an original she wrote and arranged, a very sexy number that has a cool backup harp part. The Corner of Love and Hate. It's one of those songs where the harp never needs to be a lead instrument, and it's just too cool. It's on our latest CD which we are about to release.

If you play out live, you sometimes hit a high point where just nearly every single note is flawless. Last night was one of those. Being lucky enough to stay with the same partner for 12 years is really becoming the apex of my 2 decades of working with bands and duos.

Once again, if you happen to be in Crescent City CA this evening, stop by the Best Western Northwoods Inn.
Highway 101, south end of town, near the big beach. 9 to 11. No cover, great food, nice bar, friendly folks!

Sorry that I missed you, but that's Oregon north. If I had known earlier, I would have made the road trip.

Joe, thanks for the sentiment, much appreciated! We plan to work our way south in a month or two so maybe there's a meet in the future.

Sarge- as always, wish you could be here too.

Saturday we played just as well as Friday but the audience was smaller. Place was full of diners when we arrived and steadily shrunk as we got started. Staff loved us! I got to order off the menu for a go box of food and they gave me enough shrimp and chees grits to feed a family of 4, plus a lot of other great stuff. I have been full as a tick since Saturday night!

This was a success. There are a few more opportunities to explore here and we have 3 gigs next month as well. So far Crescent City has been very good to us!

Can I find your gig schedule somewhere without having to relinquish myself to Mark Zuckerberg's Evil Empire?
I'll be in Crescent City in a couple of weeks and would like to find out when you'll be there again.

Nope, nope you can't Buzz. As a matter of fact the Evil Empire already knows about your request and is sending you a detailed schedule.

They........know........everything.

Even what you're thinking. Even before you knew you were thinking about it.

Yeah, I know. I'm just ignorantly stubborn in my simplistic resistance. Futile or no....

Buz, we will be on 3rd street in C City in a week, a street fair, 5 to 7:30. Downtown Divas are putting it on. Tip gig.
Aug. 19, Port o' Pints pub on Northcrest, 8 to 10 p.m.
Aug. 26, Seaquake Restaurant, 7 to 9.

We may land something else this next month, who knows! There are only so many joints here who are hiring and I think it's mostly just during tourist season. So we hit it right here.
Within 2 days of arriving we had a gig. A few days later we landed a weekend. Those places were looking to fill in some dates and we lucked in. Plus we do have a good promo protocol!
Even if we aren't playing maybe we can meet up for a libation of some sort.

We ARE lucky no doubt. We also have a good approach which helps. This guy heard us playing in front of his place last month at the street fair, He immediately grabbed his calendar and wrote us in.

A friendly but no-BS approach seems to work well for us in recent months. The idea is to get either a yes or a no. Then move on and put a date on the calendar or go to the next opportunity. It's a good business approach. Keeping a great attitude is vital to moving forward and making progress.

For real, folks out west are just nicer. Even the no's have been friendly! Other places we've been they'd look at us with a kind of rude attitude and never come out with a no. Stop back so and so. Leave your number. Etc.

So it is part luck, part experience, part confidence, and all good!
