One of my customers told me that her 19 year old daughter has just taken up the harmonica. She got a cheap one, followed the directions included, and is now killing it with "Old Suzanna." I know Adam's lessons are mainly towards intermediate/advanced players. What books and what YouTube instructors are geared toward the raw beginner? (Winslow, of course I'll get her your book!)

bluesharmonica.com will take her from raw beginner to pro level. It's the most comprehensive pathway I know of for developing solid technique.

Even if she isn't interested in the blues, blues harmonica playing requires a deep skillset that would benefit her in any genre.

Adam does have a lot of stuff for intermediate and advanced players, but his "Beginner's Deluxe" package (which I used) is one of the best learning resources available for those just starting out.

Thanks Rontana. And Micro, I don't think she wants to shell out the $$$.

Getting a better harmonica is also really important. It's ok she started on a cheap one.
Easttop would be my suggestion. Special 20 after that. Rocking Rons, of course. He sure did me right last week. I think he's secretly the CEO of USPS.

Get here around some good accoustic musicians. Tell her this " learn to listen to one instrument at a time" best advice I ever received.

Liam Ward has a very good collection of YouTube videos suitable for beginners covering everything from getting single notes to playing actual songs. He puts out a new one each week. I found his stuff very useful.

There's also a thread on the beginner's forum called "raw beginner's advice" or something like that with lots of tips, suggestions and links to videos.
