I have a VHT special 6 head and cab that I hadn't used for a couple of years. I got it out yesterday with the intention of selling it and played it for a while. It was a little crackly when I first turned it on but this settled down in a minute or so and then sounded fine. After about 30 mins playing the sound just went. Turned it off and back on again but still no sound. Tried it again this morning and it started ok but within a few minutes the sound went again. Any ideas as to what ok so wrong? Tubes?

Could be tubes or oxidization. I would start by lightly moving the tubes back and forth a little and making sure they are all still lit. If you have spare tubes try those. I would also clean the input and speaker output jacks and the tube sockets with contact cleaner. But if it's light oxidation usually just moving the connectors in and out of the jacks and taking the tubes out and putting them back in a couple times will do for a while.
Good luck
