Here is a song from back in 2009 before I found out I had Multiple Myeloma bone cancer...I am a simple player and I usually get ripped a new one when I post here...but ...here ya go :)
I think it is a good blues harp performance. The video picks up the harp at a disproportionate level to the vocals, but I am assuming that in the room the mix is good.
Our instrument can be played in many ways, and there is always a temptation to do comparisons of technique. I have played in SPAH jams along side players who definitely surpass me in technique, but I have not been intimidated into leaving the jam.
If I am playing solid music using my approach, I am satisfied. Making music with others is not a competition, it is a joyful expression of self as part of something bigger. More chromatically phrased notes using extended technique is not necessarily better or worse. The question is, "Does what I play serve and enhance the overall music?"
I strongly believe that if we make a solid musical statement with our playing that adds to the music and is true to our own approach such comparisons are pointless.
Nice playing! ----------
