This year during the third week of August, Tulsa Oklahoma will be invaded by hundreds of harmonica players for the annual harp convention of SPAH (Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica).

Here's the Teach-In lineup for Joe Filisko's Teach-In. It's a pretty impressive group of players/instructors:
Buzz Krantz, Mike Caldwell, David Barrett, Jery Devillier, Will Scarlett, Rob Roy Parnell, Grant Dermody, Cara Cooke, PT Gazell, Ronnie Shellist, Deak Harp, Lonnie Joe Howell, Adam Gussow, Todd Parrott, Michael Rubin, Dennis "Mr. Microphone" Oellig, Joe Spiers, Jimi Lee, Richard Sleigh & Connor Frontera.

And here is a list of performers scheduled to play: Ralph Viola Trio (with Paul Davies and Tony Sgro), Ilya Portnov, Jake Houshmand, Johnny Long, Ross Garren, the (Tulsa) Route 66 Harmonica Club, Carolyn Dolan, Adam Gussow, Hendrik Meurkens, Ronnie Shellist, Joe Filisko w/Eric Noden and Friends, the Michael Rubin hour, Tom Stryker & friends Harmonica Big Band (with Tom, Winslow Yerxa, Mike Runyan, Chris Bauer, Steve Watne, Judy Simpson Smith, Al Smith and George Miklas), The Loving Mary Band, Koei Tanaka, and of course the Rosebush Youth Scholarship winners.

And a friendly reminder, Suzuki Music will be there with tables of demo harps, come see if you like our harmonicas!

Dates are 8/15/2017 until 8/19/2017, with the unofficial Blues Blow Out (this year, it's at the hotel!) on the 14th.

Seems to me it is still down the road a fur piece...

I am looking forward to SPAH in Tulsa. I hope my truck's AC keeps working in August in Oklahoma.

See you there, Gary!

@Mooncat Great news--I looked at your schedule and it seemed that you were otherwise engaged (no jokes here please).
Swing by Suzuki to say "hey".

Aha! Mooncat, will you be there on the Wednesday night or any time on Thursday? That's the only time I'll be there.

Looking forward to the madness that is SPAH. I haven't been since.....I'm trying to remember. 2011, I believe. Whenever I did that seminar on Nat Riddles. Blues Doctors will be doing a set in the Thursday night blues show. I will play "Whammer Jammer."
