I noticed that my Session Steel reedplates have 8 holes, but only 5 of them have screws in them. Have any of you added 3 additional screws, to use all 8 holes? If so, does it make the harp more airtight?

I add the extra screws when I build a Seydel. Same thing for the MS-Series harps and the Special 20s which both have more holes for screws than are used at the factory. I am told by Seydel that they really are not screw holes - they are holes used to align the reed plates during the manufacturing process.

BTW -they take a 1.6mm screw.

Thanks Tom. Makes sense. I see Seydel sells packs of 10 screws for 5$/5€ on their website.

the older seydels only had 3 screws. so some of my harps only have 3... some have 5 and some have all 8. Not sure i have noticed a difference.

all but one of my main harps have blue moon combs. i dig em.
