There's quite a bit of hostility in here lately.
Some of it due to a thread of mine no doubt. ( Perhaps I should have left that one alone. )

I tried to elevate the mood with a silly thread, but I guess that didn't work.

Now everyone take a breath and hold hands. Here we go.

You set the hostile and tone negative tone, not the other posters.

Silly thread? It was a hit job, plain and simple. Personally I do not own one of the 5 watt wonders, but a number of folks do and in most cases, it is because they an affordable way to play electric harp. You got a serious problem with that?

It is clear from your thread you think "people are stupid" that don't agree with you.

Yes, let's all take a deep breath. And how about you just sit on your hands next time you decide to have a hissy fit.

Wow. The "silly" thread I was referring to was the dog thread.
The "stupid people" I was referring to were the masses in general, in response to your argument, NOT people who disagree with me or bought this amp. My point was ... just because you can show that a group of people do something .. isn't proof that it's a good idea. Understand?

The thread was started with FACTS .... and transformed into what it is by you single handedly. Perhaps it was poor judgment to poke the bee hive, admittedly. But still .... like Sgt. Friday ... just the facts mam. There are others who shared there love for the amp, but you don't see them getting all upset.

And I was also referring to other threads that have gotten a bit carried away. Was just trying to elevate the mood.

Thanks for your contribution. Have a nice day fella.

That's what argumentative people usually say when confronted with logic and reason.

Call it the ghost of Rick and whatever his handle happens to be lately. His marketing chaps me some too but that may be because I know enough about this thing. That means I'm getting suckered, happily, by other stuff elsewhere.
Like the StroboPlus HD Strobe Tuner that's coming in the mail today to solve all my tuning ineptness.
But it's not really a strobe tuner...?
I kinda knew that but bringing it up here is just a ploy to get Killa Hertz to put his 2 Cents in when I post for help.

Littoral... yea it's not a real strobe tuner, but it's pretty darn nice. I love mine. Idk how familiar you are with how the Sweeteners work..... but I had emailed a tech at Peterson and got the programmed layout for all of the harmonica Sweeteners. Because they are not spelled out very clearly in the booklet. They merely say marine band, special 20, things like that. But since MB and sp20 use the same tuning (currently) it was a bit confusing.

If memory serves ... the MB tuning is 19 limit and the vintage marine band is 7 limit... special 20 is the current comprimise. You can also create your own custom sweetners.

I'll have to dig up the file and send it to you.

Current MB's are a compromise tuning that lean toward 19J.

6SN7-Are you having a bad day? I think you're a bit over the top on Killa Hertz. His post seems reasonable to me and he's never been confrontational,as far as I can see.

Killa_Hertz,

So sorry I missed your original incendiary thread but I don't think your observation that "...just because you can show that a group of people do something .. isn't proof that it's a good idea" is too far away from H.L. Mencken's observation, “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.”

Amps? If you don't bring the tone, amps are largely inconsequential. There is a certain pleasure in seeing people get riled up when something is said about an amp they own or an amp builder they like. Glad you poked the beehive. It was too quiet.

Absolutely. It's so painful to listen to a lot of demos. My daughter says they sound like donkeys.
Killa, I have your file from searching here under strobotuner. I'll be looking for some direction enough :)

Tuckster.. thanks. In all fairness, I can be a bit dickish. But I try to keep it to a minimum. Lol.
Yea, I know current MB are comprimise ... it's just the funny way these sweeteners are labeled on the tuner. And the description of them only further clouds the issue. Lol.

BnT. I'm glad somebody gets it... lol.

Amps .. I have played through some pretty low cost amps and I think I still can get a pretty darn decent sound out of em. Gear is just an excuse for us adults to play with toys. But I like toys. 8^)

Littoral let me know. I can give you a few pointers.

@ Tuckster- my issue with Killa stems from another post where he goes postal after I made comments regarding the marketing of MM. Nothing in my comments were a attack on him but he clearly had a problem with them and signed off in huff, never to address the thread again.

The MM 20 thread was a slam piece. period. Sure, there is a lot of truth he presents but he is real...dickish....about it. Kind of like Rick. Which makes me think.............is Rick aka Killa?!!!!

Frankly, I think its all unnecessary, if he took the time to read what I said, he would see I agree with him a look more than he realises.

Ya,I do think you're both on the same side of the argument. Ok You guys have seemed to have worked it out. Rick Davis does seem rather unpopular around here. He never bothered me. He's pretty transparent on the hawking of "his" products.Just not very tolerant of other people's products.

6sn7. I think your reading WAY too much into this. Your clearly still upset about it, but I don't really care. The Memphis 40 thread is there for everyone to read and interpret as they see fit. My response to you was a writen as a calm retort. I do exaggerate in the interest of humor, but .... if it hurt your feelings pal I'm sorry.

I didn't sign off in a huff. But the thread was quickly turning into a round and round spat. So I just left it alone. There is enough of these threads at the moment ... even going so far as to bash nate and question his judgement.
I don't have time to fight on the Internet. If I wanna fight I do it for real. And when I really "go postal" you ll see me on the news. (again)

Now let's all sign kumbaya and get on with it.

Ovey.....
You don't need to apologize, but admitting you can be dickish was enough, lol. That came off as pretty genuine
Have a groovy day

For the record, I'm glad Killa posted the "Memphis 40" post. It was an interesting learning experience for me as someone who does not know a lot about the technical side of amps/pedals. I always thought Rick was developing his own NEW products, but seeing that website made me aware of what is actually going on. It is not an unheard of business practice to rebrand things from a Chinese factory as your own. In fact it is actually quite common. But one of the things I like about playing the Harmonica is the sense of "community" within the gear world. The way that Rick runs his business seems to go against that. To me that is reason enough to not buy his products. You may not care, which is fine, but one way that a community stays strong is by making people accountable for their BS

HL - now there are two threads discussing the rebranding issue.

If everyone is applying standards, it's got to be fair. I believe that with the MM and the other products its always been clear that these are imported products, modified and sold on. Greg Heumann sells his Heumann Element (as included in the Bulletini) and he is clear that this is an existing element that he buys in, modifies and sells. Both are adding value. What's the difference?

What Killa has usefully done is show the original amp, and people can make an informed decision about it.

It seems there's something else going on around the MM that makes everyone so cross.

People I just want to help nate out here a bit. He has said to me before that problems arise when you drag one thread into another. So for his sake, let's try not to do that.

My only comment is that ...people like harmonica Lewinsky is EXACTLY the reason that I posted what I did. Everyone says that Rick is so upfront about this. But yet no one seems to be aware of it.

Buy what you want, just be informed.

Now that we re clear... I really wish to leave it at that. It feels much like beating a dead horse. If you choose to discuss the subject further, please drag it back to the origional thread. For Nates sanity sake. Lol
