Hi all and happy Easter to everyone.

At the end of this month my band and I are playing at The Cheltenham Jazz Festival (in the UK). Due to the short time between bands we aren't allowed to bring our own amps etc. and instead have to use the backline provided. I'm sure this is quite normal for those of you who regularly play festivals but this will be my first gig without my trusty bassman.

The only amp that's available to me is a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 1x12.

So my question is, what's this amp like for harp? I have a Squeal Killer and a Mojo Pad so either of these should help tame the amp somewhat. Given there will be limited time to soundcheck I need to decide do I go with the amp or instead just play through the p.a.?

Any advice from those with experience of this sort of thing would be immensely appreciated.

Thanks

Adam

The Mojopad is supposed to help out with taming amps with too much preamp gain, so that sounds like the way to go in this situation.

All you need is sufficient stage volume and decent tone without squealing; the sound man should take care of FOH volume. If you have the opportunity, go to a music store and experiment with this amp and your gear and find the best settings for your sound.

I also am a fan of 7 band (or more) eq pedals or pedals with sweepable ranges so you can reduce the level of the frequencies that are feeding back.

Good Luck

Try this: use the Mojopad, but plug in to the amp's #1 input instead of the lower gain #2 input. IME this balances out pretty well.

No experience with that amp, but always felt the Lone Wolf Harp Tone+ was great for making a guitar amp harp friendly.
