Once upon a time I learned that storing a microphone in the back of an amp is not a good idea because over time the speaker magnet will have a deleterious effect on the mic.

What about storing an effects pedal, like, for example, a reverb pedal in the back of an amp? Is the speaker magnet going to negatively affect the pedal?

I have never heard or seen any reports of any problems storing pedals in the cabinet. I have seen a couple of reports that it's a bad idea to store dynamic or CM/CR elements in the cabinet because of the magnetic components in the mic element are affected by the speaker magnet. FWIW I have stored pedals in the bottom of a cab with no noticeable effect.

Since the issue would seem to be the effect of the powerful speaker magnet on the mic magnet, pedals should be OK. I have never heard of, or had, a problem with pedals kept in the speaker cab, and I used to use a few and carry them in the amp cab.

I can't think of any pedal that uses a magnet to generate the effect, but who knows, there could be one... If so, that could be an issue.

If they are loose in the cab they could rattle around and get scratched if the cab is handled carelessly, or even though unlikely, fall out. If they are mounted on a board then why not put the board in a case with your harps or mics?

I wouldn't worry about pedals and magnet interactions.

With the mic I think the issue is the repeated moving of the mic close to the magnet through the magnetic field while taking it in and out of a cab, rather than the mic just being in the bottom of the cab, relatively distant from the magnet.

Looking it up online to confirm my recollection, magnetic force from a permanent magnet reportedly diminishes according to the inverse cube of the distance from the magnetic pole.

There are reports about a tube in a tube amp that is too close to the magnet being negatively affected, but when the tube is more than a couple inches away from the magnet there seems to be no problem with tube amps and speaker magnets sharing space.
