Take It From The Turnaround and Nice and Strong are two of my favourites. Both have some outstanding diatonic playing, but pretty much all his albums feature Paul's equally good chromatic. You won't be disappointed with either album. The man was an absolute monster on the harp and 100% original.
I concur with Take it from the Turnaround and Nice and Strong. Pretty sure I bought all his available music on CD and those two I listen to the most frequently.
I wore out a copy of Take it From the Turnaround by spinning it so much. Here is a cover of Worn Out Shoe my band BluesHead recorded a while ago. Stock Lee Oskar 80's GB painted Red '65 Fender Vibrolux Reverb
My favorites are "Take it from the turnaround", "Nice and Strong" and "Heavy Rotation". Johnny Charles , very good version! thanks! ---------- Konstantin Kolesnichenko(Ukraine) http://kolesnichenko-harmonica.com/
I can think of no other artist (besides Carlos) who's music isn't covered enough by blues bands than Paul.
You guys did a great job.
Having Paul influence anyone's playing is a great thing. You obviously learned quite a lot from him, but you also sound like you - not a total memorized clone.
Ideas are punchy and razor sharp on the harmonica!
Thanks 1847...knight...wheel...Bronze and Ice. Appreciate the kind words. Kham, you can't go wrong with Paul Delay....great choice.

Its a funny thing. I used to listen to Delay and actually saw him once in Winnipeg shortly before he passed and I always thought he's way out of my league. Couldn't even play a simple lick of his. As time passes and I keep noodling, low and behold I can play/borrow/transform most of his diatonic stuff. Soooo exciting to finally graduate from harmonica elementary school.
I ordered "Take it From the Turnaround" and now I'm like a jack-o-lantern at the window waiting for our postlady.
