It's just another over glorified MS harp, just like the Bob Dylan and Steven Tyler models with a different cover plate. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
A custom model for the guy whose wife, on America's Got Talent, said, 'I don't think harmonica is really a lead instrument' (or something to that effect; I can't find a link).
At last! This is only one of these I've seen which I'd consider buying. Not for the playing but for the novelty box/collectible aspect. Shades of the 'trumpet call' etc. And I got this cool capcha so I must be on a winner: 2EWaNk
Still better than the Tyler, Lennon and Dylan editions. Especially the Dylan signature set which must have had genuine signatures for whatever the price was. $2500 or so I mean that is the thing, these are not meant to be played, they are collectibles in the tradition of many harps made over the years. But lately they have been very dull; so dull people may not have even noticed the novelty aspect. The Lennon edition at least had the white covers and the logo but the others were very straight. Black Sabbath are at least humorous and at last hohner have picked up on that. I have a 1996 centenary edition marine band on the bench for repairs. That's another harp that was never intended to be played if you ask me.

It's actually a pretty fun thing, and they put some effort into making the look & packaging interesting, unlike with the Dylan etc models. They should keep that up with future signature models. Although myself I'd probably draw the line at a Kris Kristofferson model, which would of course come wrapped in a dirty red bandanna.
I just might buy an Ozzy harp, if only to freak out my more serious harp playing friends.
frank i have to agree with you, i have a tremendous amount of respect for ozzy,
before i got in to blues, that is what i listened to. when he left the band, he had better records than they did. his records were as good or better than their early stuff.
I'm definately more of a rock fan than a blues fan.
There's a whole list of rock singers that use a harp, albeit sparingly for certain tracks. Bruce Springsteen, Robert Plant, Ian Gillan, Ozzy, Mike Peters and on and on...
Harp makers are in the business of selling harmonicas, not just bestowing them to players who achieve a certain proficiency level.
Springsteen and Mike Peters were the reason I started playing harp. I couldn't care less what your "informed" critique of their playing is. Hohner sold me harps on the basis that I'd heard "The River" and "Spirit of '76".
The Dylan model is actually a pretty good harp. It has a chromed reed plate set and seems to have a clearer overall tone to me. ---------- Reverbnation
I have the Dylan harps in several keys ( got them on close out at Amazon for $20 each) Original Blues Harp with gold-plated reed plates and engraved cover. Not sure why the plated the reeds but it dont hurt nuthin and I didnt think twice-its alright They play fine with a little gapping
Im a huge fan of sabbath. First album i bought was a Sabbath album. First concert i went to was the first sabbath reunion tour. (Before it was ozzfest) but that's neither here nor there.
I guess it's kinda cool. But it wouldn't be as bad if they had made ANY models dedicated to actual harp players.
I bought a Lennon model at guitar center on closeout for $20. Its not a bad harp, and it comes with a nice display case and all.
I guess it is what it is. The general public doesnt give a shit about harp players. So they have to reach them somehow.
Btw, That Hakan video is just Wrong. Lol. He's nuts.
