What do you think of an Ampeg r12 no reverb model from 1960 for blues harp, is it too clean sounding for a chicago tone ?

I had a '62 Reverb-O-Rocket for over 5 years. Had the Original Ceramic Speaker.
Nice throaty growl but not enough volume for clubs without micing it.
Look out that your model has the 6V6 Power tubes. There are some models that featured hard-to-get tubes, if my memory serves me.

I should look it up but how different is that ampeg to a similiar vintage Jet j12?
Looks very similar. I have an octal preamp jet which was originally a 6V6 amp but currently running 5881s. I think it's a great harp amp, within its limits. I use it at rehearsals but I'd be concerned about its capacity to keep up in a gig. 12" speaker makes it more capable than my similiar-power Princeton Reverb. I prefer it to the PR

I was very pleased with my Ampeg too. Figured the Octals in the Preamp section played a significant role in it's Harp-Friendly nature. My Guitarist at the time loved the sound of it's Reverb.

It's one of 3 amps I regret selling.
Original '59 Bassman and a '64 Vibro Champ are the others.

In decent shape with original Speaker and 6V6's...
I think it's worth it. Good old tube amps seem to be coming available less & less lately.
