Good for you, congratulations. Of course, now I will have to revisit my theory that Mickey Raphael plays harmonica on everything in Texas.

Did you play that in 4th, 5th or 6th position? How many overblows did you use? Was that a custom harp or OOTB?

All kidding aside, congratulations.

I love to hear a simple song well and simply played like that! I did not see the connection between the song and Texas. I was a bit surprised when I researched the song and found this simple children's song's checkered past! Still can't see the connection with Texas, but the tune fits the add.

I see the connection now, due to dougharps post. Not being Texan, another set of lyrics comes to mind when I hear that tune. I had never heard the "Eyes of Texas" lyrics before.

If that was on a diatonic, I noticed the strategic fade out just at the point where one needs that "three hole inhale second bend - at pitch" to play the line (if you were playing in 1st position).

heh heh...

Congrats on the studio and high profile end result gig!

Actually Iceman,
I played the entire song without bending in first position and they faded it.

How did I do it?

Hint: It was on a richter tuned diatonic harmonica.

ooh oooh. I know I know. Call on me. Pick me.

You played it on the uppermost octave of the harmonica?

That was cool! You did the vocal while playing! I've never heard anyone do that before. Kidding, Mike. Awesome.

Nice!

I'm curious about the process. Did you do your own recording which was then edited and merged elsewhere? Or did you do it in a studio?

Thx

JustFuya, It was in a studio, but there was just me and an engineer. No producer. They had advised me to do the whole song in 30 seconds. I advised it would sound crazy fast. I did multiple options, fast, slow with a fadeout, first and cross harp and even through a bullet and amp. I was surprised because they told me that wanted the cross harp bluesy version, but I thought they should pick they one they ultimately did. When the commercial came out, they made the right choice, imo.
