There's a player who is actually improvising. He's working in real time, responding to every lick that he's just played and refocusing on what's to come. He's letting his solo breathe. He's taking his time in the way that the old guys meant when they said "Take your time." But he's pushing, too. Feeling every note. Not just recycling licks.

Five stars. Good job, Pierre Lacocque.

I have heard his name bandied about, but i am not at all familiar with his playing.
my jaw dropped when i heard this. top tier harp player.
the dynamics alone damn. listen to this band!!!!!!

is he using carey bells personal mic?

lurrie bell was sitting next to me not long ago, i did not want to bother him, i wish i had.
he was from out of town, and i bet he would have loved to share some stories

He´s been around, making records, at least since the early 90´s, with quite a distinctive sound and playing style. For some reason he´s not given that much attention - or that is my (hopefully unfounded) impression. (Maybe because he doesn´t sing?)
You don´t have to adore him (or the all-to-common harmonica player´s hat) but I´m always impressed by his precision. And the switch to 3 pos on "She´s 19 years old" is terribly effective.

Hohner is missing out big time by not offering a hat/harp combo package.

Maybe they are, but I won´t force the issue. And if that´s a genuine Panama hat he´s wearing it´s a good deal more expensive than even Hohner´s harmonicas.

Pierre has been around for a while. Mississippi Heat is a true Chicago Blues Band. It's a single band with a multitude of members. Pierre has a knack for finding and featuring great vocalists. Some of which you have never heard of before. He's a great player.

I believe that the "Carey Bell" microphone is now owned by Steve Bell.

I really like what this guy does and he has great tone with clarity and definition. Not a lot of indistinct distortion masking his tone and obliterating the edges and contours of his notes.

It looks like his playing a GM but I think I see vents cut into the covers and I think he's using a Shaker mic. Interesting choices of equipment. And he has a distinct individual style. Very enjoyable stuff!

Pierre is one of my favourites too. His accompanying skills are unique! He and his brother Michel are very kind peoples also! They help me a lot with my album.

How have I never heard of him? I love his playing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the first video he's playing in 2nd position, right? That's how I was paying along.

"the first video in an A harp in 3 rd"

Thanks, I meant 3rd position. Don't know why I wrote 2nd.

Anyway, I've become quite a fan of third position. I love the mood you can get out of the note selection.

The mic Pierre is using in that second video is a Shaker. I seem to recall that he endorses them.
