Or, you could learn to play a harmonica.

hey, let's be fair - if this was a pedal that made a harmonica sound like a sax or a B3 everybody would be all "wow, this opens new horizons ..."

Kinda sounds like a keyboard impersonating an electric guitar with a funny effect.

Yeah, as simulators go it was only so so. More to the point they weren't really playing a riff you'd play with harp. But it's sort of a one size fits all attempt, not a specialized piece of kit.

I kinda wonder how it would sound w/ a harmonica. Maybe it could help some people?

Kinda reminds me of that old sayin', "why not just hire a harmonica player. How much could one cost?"

I actually thought some of the quick little punches in the beginning of the video and the little shake emulation sounded very much like harmonica. I think if used in this way it could be very effective.

A better example would have been to play a well known harmonica part.

Same deal with the Hammond B3 pedal. I did a gig with a guy that used the Hammond B3 pedal to great effect during a specific song. It really sounded like we had keys playing on that song, but it had a lot to do with the player re-approaching the guitar as if he was playing a B3.

It turns out the harmonica is not that easy to play.
Who knew?
Grandpa never let on that it was difficult . . .

Well, to be fair, it's two pedals, in the video.
And my opinion is that playing the harmonica is much more satisfying than trying to recreate the sound with pedal.
I play guitar much better than I do harmonica--if I want a harmonica sound, I play harmonica.

Gnarly, but you are a multi-instrumentist! I love playing with effects to sound like brass or a sax, but I have no intention of learning to play them (well, I can play a very, very tiny amount of brass.)

(That said, if I woke up tomorrow without wrist problems I'd start learning piano, and if my apartment had room I'd learn some more drums. :) )

Edit- And ridge, I agree, it sounded better in the very start. I think it had a lot to do with what they are playing.
