Hello friends! Today is the day! The release day! Hypnotized is my third album, and the most beloved. I tried to make it conceptual - from song selection to the cover pictures. This album means a lot to me, because it is dedicated to my mom who passed away in January. I felt her support through the whole process of creating this album.
Thank you Jason Ricci, PT Gazell, Pierre Lacocque for listening to the presale copy and for the permission to cite you. Your music inspires me to make my own music :)
For now my album is available in digital format on CDBaby. But my cd's are already on their way to Cdbaby and bluebeatmusic.com. I hope that you like Hypnotized. And as usual, your support is really needed!

Here are some quotes of my favourite musicians who listend to presale copies.
And I hope you will like it too :)

"Konstantin Kolesnichenko is one of my favorite living harmonica players playing some of my very favorite music. I am a huge fan of both his playing and his artistic direction to the point of jealousy. I love him and this disc and want MORE!"
Jason Ricci

"This wonderful CD takes the listener on a musical journey from vintage Jazz to inspiring South American rhythms and gentle swings.
The 7 songs are well crafted instrumentals led by Konstantin Kolesnichenko's soulful and lyrical harmonica. The arrangements are creative and the bandleader's harp playing is masterful. Throughout, his harmonica sounds like a horn adding so much to the band’s ensemble feel. A stellar performance.
***** FIVE STARS"
Pierre Lacocque
Bandleader
Mississippi Heat

"Hypnotized"...think Brother Jack McDuff, Booker T & William Clarke all rolled into one with Konstantin Kolesnichenko's unique twist on it."
PT Gazell

Thank you all for kind words! Your support is what I really need. I really appreciate it. Thank you so much for buying my album. It's hard to record good blues in Ukraine so I'm happy that I've found the listeners. I hope that you liked it.

Wheel,
I've been listening to it pretty much constantly since Saturday. It's amazing, at lack of better words.

Do you have a jazz background on another instrument and you brought that experience to harmonica, or were you born into jazz with only a harmonica in hand?

SleepingCat,
thank you so much! I feel that I made something needful and good after your words. I really appreciate it.
I graduated from music school when I was a teenager. I studied piano. But I played only classical music in the school. I don't play complex jazz because it needs a higher level of music understanding. But what I play it's usually by ear.

Well Wheel, I didn't want to pester you with a ton of questions, but since you offered... :)

I began playing a little over a year ago. The musical idiom of your album is where I would like to end up. Any bits and pieces of the road map that you followed would be very much appreciated. If that's too vague I will try to formulate some specific questions (e.g. your top musical influence).

SleepingCat, thank you so much for interest and kind words. I appreciate it! As English is not my native language it will be easier for me to answer on more specific questions.
As for my musical influences. I think I was influenced probably by all music that I love. To make this record they were Willis Jackason, Jack Mcduff, Bill Jennings, Jimmy Forrest, Grant Green, William Clarke, Dennis Gruenling, Jason Ricci, Gene Ammons, PT Gazell, Jimmy McGriff, Junior Watson, Johnny Lytle, Benny Golson, Ernie Watts and so on :)

Hi Wheel,

Do you spend a lot of your study time studying sax/guitar riffs/solos vs. harmonica riffs/solos?

When attacking jazz-ier blues do you personally think in terms of positions (e.g second, third), scales, modes?

thanks!

SleepingCat,
thank you for questions!
1. I have a big txt file with some of my favourite harmonica, sax, guitar solos and phrases! Once in a while I use it for training and memorizing. It's my bag of tricks. For this album I use more guitar and sax phrases. It sounds like harmonica but I took direction from other instruments. But during my harmonica lifetime I transcribed a ton of harmonica solos. Most of them are from Little Walter, George Harmonica Smith, Gary Primich, Kim Wilson, Dennis Gruenling and William Clarke. I've also transcribed a Jason's solos but I couldn't play them :) It's to hard for me! I'm also a huge fan of musical quotes I use them probably on every song. I used a part of famous Gypsy song from my region in part B of solo from "East Breeze".

2. I think in terms what will sound better. I don't afraid of using more then one harp. In 3 song from album I used lo F and low Eb harps. Bends are bends but note without it always sounds better. I used a lot my EasyChromatic tuned harmonica. It's really easy to play for example in 6 or in 12 pos in it.

Wow love it!! Great work Konstantin, very tastefull. Didn't know you were now playing Seydels, as I remember you traditionally played GMs and MBs with S20 cover plates.

Jaime, thank you so much! I'm with Seydel's for a long time. One of reasons is their configurator. I use my own tuning so configurator is the only way for me :)

bigd, thank you so much! Your kind words make me happier!

I'm happy to say that my cd is available on bluebeatmusic.com now and receive a super nice review from Charlie Lange! :)
