The North Atlantic Blues Festival (www.nothatlanticbluesfestival.com) this weekend (Jul 16-17) in Rockland Maine is worth the trip if you're in the region. Two days of blues. Notable harpists this year include John Hammond and Johnny Sansone. Other notable blues acts include Quinn Sullivan, Mike Zitto and Elvin Bishop ( who played in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band).
Night time brings out some great local blues artists in a pub crawl and there's even a jam session which is always looking for harp players according to the host.
Other events going on in Maine this summer include the Dam Blues Fest in Damriscotta ME with Jason Ricci on Aug 6, and on Aug 28 in Kingfield, ME Denis Gruinling will be with the Jewel Tones.
