Recently I attended a couple days of Harmonica Collective and in class sessions I was reminded of an issue in my playing.
I am self taught over many years, and have added theory after the fact to improve my skills. I did not learn by tab. I find that trying to play runs with specific bends by direction is challenging for me. I found that there were bends that I regularly hit without difficulty as part of playing a song, but trying to bend to that note in a demonstration was almost impossible for me, or at least really hard and with poor results. I felt really humbled by this experience. It seemed that I couldn't bend to those notes when asked. But I use them when I play!
This video sort of sums up my thoughts on this issue:
Has anyone else had this experience? ----------
