Does anybody have any suggestions on buying an external mic for my lap top to record you tube videos with? The mic on my lap top is very loud and trebly! It's just not useable! I'm looking for something that isn't expensive and not to bright. Instead of doing hours of research I thought maybe someone has already been though this and could help? Thanks to who ever can help!

I use an M-Track Plus that connects to my computer via usb and accepts two inputs, either microphone or instrument via 1/4 in jack or XLR. This lets me use my normal harmonica mic, a bulletized SM58 into my computer.

My Last PC had a 1/8" microphone input jack and I was able to get pretty good recordings using a Labtec am-232 into this jack.

Thanks 1847 and STME58 I'll look into those. @STME58 yes my computer has the smaller jacks like you mentioned (I think they are called RCA jacks).

It's always been my understanding that RCA jacks are 2 conductor a/v connectors. One conductor on the cord is a shielded ground.

I love this thing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Guitar-to-USB-Interface-Link-Cable-Audio-Adapter-for-PC-MAC-Recording-/381374441400?hash=item58cbb027b8:g:3ZAAAOSweW5VUybp
SQ is good, easy to use, and is so cheap!
Edit: Yes, is not a mic, but you can use it to conect a mic to your pc (any dynamic mic, this wont work whit condenser (no phantom)) ---------- Sorry for any misspell, english is not my first language.
