Has anyone tried these new low harmonicas with thicker combs from Seydel? Does anyone know if the cover plates or combs are interchangeable with other Seydel harps?

I'm pretty sure its all interchangeable. Check the begginer forum. Someone did a review on it. You can ask him.

Edit: BTW it was Harmlessonica that got the Seydel Low Low E. I thought it was, but wasnt sure.

He s doing a pretty cool didgeridoo experiment right now with it. I dig it.

I briefly played the Low C version. I was surprised how easy and smooth the bends were on Draw 2 and 3, much easier than on other Low C harps.

Thanks for the info Killa. Good to know about the bends on the Low C Winslow. Is the low C valved?

Uncertain about this. The pictures show something that suggests inside valves. However, valves are not mentioned in the promotional literature on the Seydel website. And if you look at the spare parts for the 1847 Low models, valves are not shown on the replacement reedplates. However, valves specifically for the low harmonicas are among the spare parts available.

I believe the reedplates/combs/covers are interchangeable with the regular 1847 - I haven't tried it but that's what I understood from the site.

My LLE is valved on draw holes 1-6, and also blow 5.

I'm enjoying my harp so far, but those valves can get annoying sometimes. For example, when you draw, the valves lift, but if you follow that with a blow before the valve settles then you might start them flapping. I'm having to get used to slowing down to prevent this happening.

Wow .. i didn't know they were valved. No wonder people like em so much. That's a great idea. I might try valving my low manjis.

I receive mine today! Like it! very well built! I bought Bb harmonica. It has kind of valves inside but they are softer and thicker than common valves. One thing I don't like about it - my leather case does not fit for this harmonica :) lol. Low Bb is much more thicker then common Seydel. I don't even speak about marine band :) I think I will record my demo yesterday.
