Aki's tone, vibrato, groove, and poise--I'd almost say "inner peace"--on this live track is exceptional. You don't need to play flashy when you sound this good.

Needless to say, it's impossible to create this sort of music if you don't have a disciplined, swinging combo behind you. This is a heck of a band. They keep the energy flowing at a moderate volume. Locked in, but never tight.

These guys GROOVE!!!! The guitar player at the right in this picture, Big Jon Atkinson, is a pretty good harp player in his own right as well. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

he's a great singer, drummer, amp-tech and old-school recording engineer too. Big Jon rules and I especially love his harp playing. He's got serious mojo and has really upped the ante in the San Jose blues scene lately.
yeah, Aki's got that "casual intensity" thing Estrin talks about. Phrasing that feels unforced but still draws you in..
It's great to see these two guys playing together or even better get to play with them on occasion.

oh my gosh... is that a crystal mic? ..... sure does sound like one.
i watched a video of him, and he played some wicked first position riffs very inventive, unlike anything i have heard anyone else play.

Thanks for posting that. I saw him play at Hummels harmonica blowout 2016 A couple months ago. Truly a gifted player and very gracious in person.
