I have read Kim's book cover tae cover dozens of times, but never heard him play. I like him. Got a bit of James Cotton in his tone. Cool tune as well.
I've known him for many years, especially when he was living in the Worcester, MA area and have an autographed copy of the first edition of his book. He is a terrific player who is as good a guy as he is knowledgeable about the instrument. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
Fantastic. Definitely a James Cotton vibe. Dig it.
I can't find any of his work for sale. Does anyone know if he has an album out of any kind? ----------

I second the comments about the Cotton influence. Kim's got a massive sound, but that's cross-fertilized with a remarkably sophisticated arrangement. Both Kim and the band are amazing here. I remember from my one visit out to Seattle and I evening I guested on OMB behind Kim's band and several others that there's a particular Pacific Northwest ensemble sound that often has horns in it and is more sophisticated than the West Coast sound down in California. I can't describe the difference, but I hear it here. A different flavor--jazzy, I don't know what.
Dunno if it's a PNW thing but I do believe Kim is sophisticated in his approach to the music. Yeah, that Cotton thing is definitely there. ---------- Have good day. M.A.P. .
