I am currently looking for a good small portable amp. I have been bouncing around the da5, mini3, and mini5. I like the adjustable wattage.

I stumbled upon the AC4TV mini. Its battery powered. Obviously a Class A tube amp. And its got a built in attenuator.

The million dollar question is .... is it worth a $#!+ for harp ??

The thing is its about the same price used as the mini 5 rythm.

If anyone has tried one. Lmk. If they are any good I'm about to buy one.

The adjustable wattage is appealing and I thing some of the amps you've mentioned also have a dual input for vocal and instrument which would be really nice. I have a roland micro cube and and I'm very pleased with it. The only thing I would like added is a dual input, but other than that it is awesome. I looked at one of the vox mini's when I was looking for a small portable amp, but just looking at the roland and the vox it seemed like the roland was built more solid. Unfortunately I didn't get a comparison between the sound of the two which is really what matters.

Good luck in your search!

AC4TV mini ? i had one -kinda meh for guitar - I sold it

It was not battery powered- I dont think batteries can power a real tube amp-and stay portable. even tube pedals usually need ac input. But I could be wrong

It's OK ish but better value is the bugera v5. Better again if the vht special 6 combo but it doesn't have variable watts and reverb like the bugera. You can upgrade the v5 by putting in a 10" speaker.... Don't cut the hole bigger... leave it as is and just scree the speaker in..... you need to cut a small slot in the bottom to let the speaker slot into to fit. I just used an angle grinder to grind a slot -took all of 3 seconds. The bigger speaker adds a bit more bass. If recommend a wgs low watt or any old alnico.

I bought a Vox AC4TV Mini a little over a month ago, and I love it. The wattage adjustment has got to be the single greatest feature for harp player living in an apartment in NYC.

I also think it has great tone. I usually leave it at the 1w setting (1/10 of a watt is for my late nite practicing). I'm not as nuts about the tone at 4w for some reason, and I usually switch to my Vibro Champ (5w) if I want to be that loud.

Would I gig with it? Well, that I'm not sure about. If probably take my Vibro Champ instead. But the AC4TV Mini (man what a long name) is absolutely fantastic for bringing over to a friend's place for jams and whathaveyou. And for around $200, it's pretty tough to beat.

I have a special 6, but it's not adjustable wattage, and not very portable.

Ill check out the bugera. I Just want a low wattage amp that has good tone. And is relatively cheap.

The VHT is awsome, but it's bigger obviously. Not so portable.. but the biggest problem is the wattage. I don't really get a time when nobody is home. And people work out of the house, so i can't really be rippin on the vht. So i don't get to use it alot during the week. I got a Harp Attack to play the VHT at lower volume and it works great, but it's still not portable.

The battery power is a HUGE plus also. Thanks for the response Digi.

Ide like to hear it if you feel like making a clip.

Anybody think i would be better off with a cheap lil SS like the cube or da5 with a harp attack or harp break plugged in?

Not sure which way to go here.

Amps like the vht 6 and bugera don't draw much power ,so they easily run off a small inverter and a 12v battery, it wouldn't be too hard to setup a power supply box. Your have to run a good battery like an Optima to keep it compact. Solid state amps draw even less power.

Yea well i dont really want to mess with the vht. When i move in a few months I'll be able to use it alot more.

I just want something small, portable, With a good sound at lower volume.

But as with any amp Im getting mixed reports about it.
