i don't really have any brand loyalty.i tend to use suzuki, bushman and hering the most.but,i even use hohner mixed with hering or huang parts ,when it fits the situation.
BUT,back in the day i used huang exclusively, when other brands were awful, and huang was better.
so,huang is still a brand i feel some seniment for.
*****my point****
has anyone tried a huang harp master yet? is it the same footprint as a silvertone?
does it share size with, say a fender or east top?
i am curious. ---------- www.shakeylee.com

I'm not familiar with them. It looks like a typical sandwich style harp. The covers don't look anything like the Silvertone. I've only ever played one Silvertone, a used eBay one that sounded terrible. The covers were great though!
For the price, it's probably worth giving Huang another shot though. I tried a Swan last summer that played much better than I expected for a $5 harp.
If you grab one, let us know what you think.
Edit- I'm not sure who has been adding the pins to the forum map for where the factories are in China, but someone has added several locations in China, with which brands are associated with what. If the information is accurate, it looks like a couple of the factories work for multiple companies (which, I think we already suspected).

I tried one and it was worthless. I have a few of the old Huang and they are fine. ---------- Wisdom does not always come with old age. Sometimes old age arrives alone.

I don't think it's an official Huang. You can visit Huang's current web site at http://www.huangharmonicasinc.com
The company is currently ran by Patrick Huang, along with his father Frank Huang. I recently got a 12-key set of Star Performers directly from Huang. Some were new old stock, while some were the new ones which weren't so great. If Huangs had been a better harp back in the day, I would have probably played them instead of Hohners. But that was before I was heavily using overbends.

Todd, I would have to agree with you on that. They had great designs but the quality of the materials and workmanship were often sorely lacking, which was too bad but give them credit for two things:
1.) They were the first company since just prior to WWII to actually give Hohner a bit of some competition and
2>) They were the very first company to begin using 19LJI on their diatonic harmonicas. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
