Save the date! The second annual North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic blues harmonica workshop is taking place in Holly Springs, Mississippi on Thursday, June 23, 2016.
Our teachers this year include returnees John Nemeth, Jason Ricci, and Adam Gussow.
New this year will be Watermelon Slim.
The cost is $100.
It is possible that Sharde Thomas will take part, offering a special clinic on how to play blues fife.
There will be some sort of jam session on the evening of the 23rd; this year it will take place on the grounds of the festival rather than at Junior's Juke Joint #2.
The festival takes place on June 24-25.
I'll post registration info etc. when I've got it.
Two important changes to the harp workshop in Holly Springs:
1) Jason has unfortunately been forced to withdraw, thanks to his touring schedule. Dang! But his replacement will be Todd Parrott--a hell of a teacher and player--and I'm delighted about that.
2) Sharde Thomas is indeed going to be a part of the event. She will sell blues fifes to all who are interested, and she'll give some sort of beginner's workshop on how to play blues fife.
