I have the 8-piece Manji case, which has a faint chemical odour. This gives my harps a chemical taste. If I leave them out of the case for a day, the taste dissipates. But as soon as they spend any time in the case, they absorb the odour again. It's a shame, because I like the case.

Does anyone else have this problem?
Any solutions?

What is the case made of? There must be a way to clean in and eliminate the odor.

For many plastics with an odor a rinse with vinegar and then a drying can reduce or eliminate the off-gassing. Sometimes a little bit of sunshine works too.

In the states we have a spray called Febreze, which is effective for a lot of odors.

Maybe just try leaving the case open in the fresh air fro a couple of days and see it the smell clears by itself first. If not then try filling it with baking powder for a few days. Just be sure to clean it out well afterwards.

Setting it out in the sun, open to outside air should help.

I really hoped my post 3000 would be special...maybe it is...
When I built my case, I lined it with fabric which I glued in. I tried to use the least offensive glue I could find but for a time I found the smell would get in my harps if I left it closed up too long. So I left it open as a regular habit, and closed it up when I needed to use it. I never noticed a problem when I did this. Sometimes I forgot and the result would remind me, until it stopped reminding me and since then no issue. Now I leave it closed...
So yeah anyway, some volatility in some component of the case, could be fabric, glue, the material of the case itself. May fade over time or it may just keep on breaking down.
But you know, even nice smells can be bad for your health...Tasmanian Blackwood is not unpleasant to smell but don't inhale the dust, it's toxic

I have the same case and I can report no such issue.
As its fabric I would suggest some febreeze too then leave it open for a good long while.
Its probably some glue or something.
