If you listen to the flute parts you hear Ian accent the instruments voice with his own. I have monkeyed around with this technique on the harmonica. It does work and by varying ones vocal pitch slightly off key, you can get the beating, out of phase sound as the voice and reed interact. Pretty cool actually! Is there anyone out there using this technique proficiently? ...BN

There's guy here in the UK, Philip Henry. I saw him give a workshop once. He talked about signing notes through the harmonica to add to the notes already there in order to create new chords.

I'm at work at the moment and don't have my headphones but I think he does it on this track. If not try searching for him on YouTube. Lots of stuff out there.

I've done a bit of humming into the lower end of the harp. You can drop the pitch and slowly raise it while increasing the Beating.

Don't have a performance use for it yet, but maybe someday.
