Every now and then, when the spirit strikes, I update/modify/expand/streamline the creed. I've just done that, and I encourage all of you to take a look.

The changes can roughly be summarized as follows:

--the admin email has been spelled out in the opening paragraph so that people who have trouble registering can more easily check in, rather than having to search it out on another page of the website

--three or four sentences beginning "Some of us are white. Some of us are black...." have been removed, as being redundant, preachy, and unneeded.

--a few words about not condescending to beginners has been added

--several sections have been cut in pieces and reorganized so as to bring the two underlined sections of the creed--a.k.a., The Bad Things You Shouldn't Do--closer together.

Nothing major. Just, hopefully, a little clearer. A little less cluttered.

It's still too long. I'll streamline it more in the future.

--The Chief

Like a good songwriter, author, and prof..
The best pieces are re-written...not just written..

Thx Kuds

Thanks for the reminder Adam.
Point of interest, when I re-read the information, I came upon your use of the word 'civilly' and I had not encountered this word before. So I looked it up and realized that I had never heard the word used before now. Kudos or "kudzus' to you. Believe it or not, I'd always heard the intention phrased as, "Treat them with civility."
Wordsmithing is fascinating!

Thank you for all your efforts in making and continuing to improve this place. I have not found anything else quite like it.

Obviously it's your forum Adam and you do what you see fit. I can't help but think though, that the whole thing is overly convoluted and cluttering up the main page.

Maybe it would be easier and simpler to understand if it just said something like "This is a forum for the discussion and sharing of knowledge of the harmonica. Please act civilly towards each other and follow the forum rules. Please read the rules before posting here."
Then have a link to a page of the forum rules. In a similar way you do the 'For Sale' thread.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Every now and then, the presumptuous peasants warrant the draconian iron fist of the monarchy to upset the balance of complacency.

Take heed folks, lest The Man open up a can of the pipe-hittin' Nate.

I thought the long blurb IS Adam Gussow the musician, author, writer, the prof just like his long replies to or about posts I thought it was fine and I liked the little piece at the end quoting Big Walter...but hey it's Adam's site and all that!

Much better, I like the guidelines but didn't feel the need to read them everyday.

Grammar needs a tweak though. ...You must be "a" registered member...

Right you are! Sounded before somewhat Russian. Is something I do from time to time. Much better now, I'm thinking, with article. :)
