My quick take: I gravitate towards the fourth video. It sounds more like today. A more modern groove, bass line driving the whole thing, lyrics that speak to life today. I like Pete Galanis's guitar playing!

But that's just me. Be you.

That Charles Pasi clip in the OP was something else! That's the way to make the harmonica interesting to a lot of people who might have otherwise pigeon-holed it as a campfire instrument... After that it was "shuffle', "shuffle", "funk groove", "born in chicago groove", "SRV groove"... none of it bad, but nothing terribly new or different.

@bigd; Yeah Mitch is just the best for me. I don't have any harps where i'm working right now but I can hear he is throwing in some of a Horace Silver tune he covers(usually on chromatic) "Song for my father" and maybe playing in 3rd???
I like how he just unscrews the mic grill and does not miss a thing one cool cat.

Just published, although from a number of years ago: profile of Taro Senga, age 6:

This one is new:

This next one features Billy Branch and a bunch of (white) harp students. I wonder about how Corey Harris, cultural commissar for The Preservation of Black Blues, feels about this act of treachery:

On this next one, notice how the drummer is carrying the shuffle groove in a very tight, laid-back way. He will NOT let it race ahead. Hard to do:

Here's a cool instructional video by, of all people, Charlie Sayles:

Here's Rod Piazza with a monstrously big sound. The man is NOT going down slow! And Honey standing up on the piano:

Years ago working up in different parts of Scotland I used to see a really good harp player called Spider MacKenzie and since I'm back up in Scotland again for a short spell I found this, persevere some good harp playing at 4.55 ....

Another Mitch vid, but is that a Quilter he uses looks like harps on top of it?

Aki, Big Jon and all those cat's keeping the trad/west coast blues alive and well in summer 2015....

@ 1847 ; Wow, those Quilter amps are something else maybe a game changer???

Time for some chromatic with the mighty Johnny Sansone....

And the brilliantly mad cap Billy Watson...

Lee Sankey at 2015 London Harmonica Camp concert....

Aki's tone--his vibrato, especially--is just fantastic. He's got perfect swing timing, too. Very classy player.
