only 37 views!

It's not often I check out a 10 minute instrumental clip but imo this is great - the intensity builds and builds

Wonderful Leslie / Hammond effect too. I've never heard this sound done so well on harmonica. Must help having such tone and control of intonation of course!

The album version is worth checking out too

Anyone know his set up to get this sound?

Jim Liban uses an old Magnatone amp most of the time.

Nothing else sounds quite like Magnatone vibrato.

Nice!
The DG version is with technique, not gear.

Fyi on the DG Leslie technique, I asked him about it in some detail, and he said the technique is only a rapid opening and closing of the cup around the mic with his hands. He said the key is to get a tight seal during the closed-cup portion of the open/close cycle. (I had previously thought maybe he was combining some vibrato with the cupping technique, but he specified that it is only the cupping.)

see...the circular breathing technique on harmonica is all about moving those eyebrows!

The eyebrow technique, for mine to be seen I would need to dye them they are so fair!!!

It's got a good Bill Doggett vibe going on. The CD that track is from is really good (a bit pricey though) and Joel Paterson is just a great guitarist.

Carey Bell goes for that organ type vibe at about 10.49...

Carey Bell does not use the eyebrow technique much though!
