I've not played lately, for a few weeks. Really, the longest I've gone without playing. I've let things get in the way and not taken the time. I've told my wife all week, "I need play my harps....."
Last night I had a dream where I was playing with some people, and my harps were all rusted and I kept trying to play, but some of the holes were blown.
I do believe it is time to play! I don't want to see how bad my harps will look in my next dream!!
Dreams like this should be heeded. Go play now. You probably just spent 15 minutes on this forum instead of playing. In fact, if you don't look at a computer, ipad, or smartphone all weekend, you will suddenly find more time to play.
Now I'm inspired. Shutting down my wifi router for an internet-free weekend. Bye!
I have had dreams similar to that and the only good solution is to jam out!
I once left my harps at a joint an hour from home at a jam! Luckily someone there found them, knew they were mine by the case, and met me with them a day or two later.
I once left them sitting on the roof of my old Isuzu Trooper and took off for a gig like that. Lucky I heard my cigar box harp case hit the road! Case destroyed, thank the Powers for duck tape! Harps were ok.
I left off playing for over a year 13 years ago. It hurt me. I was focused on starting a business and it took all my time. A blessing in disguise was when the business tanked and I got back to the more mundane wage slavery. Because then I made a commitment to myself that no matter WHAT I would always PLAY MY HARPS. and I have. And it os GOOD. Life is FULL.
