Hi all. At the risk of laying myself open for criticism, this is my band playing the first original song that I've written (both lyrics and music). We've only played it a few times so I realise it still needs work and it's not going to win any Blues awards but I'd appreciate your feedback or suggestions for improvement.

I get the sneaky suspicion that doctor is going to loose her medical license.

I'm not very experienced with critiquing music, but I'd agree with you that more play would tighten it up. But I listened to the end and enjoyed it. Looked like you all were having a good time, a key to everyone else having a good time. New ground isn't broken by the lyrics, but that's OK. Where you from?

My first humble suggestion would be for you to lay back a bit with the harmonica. And then I mean not starting with that many fills on verse 1, but building up gradually.
I think you sound fine.

Adam, I liked it. Good job playing too. I agree with Martin about easing up on the harp on the first go 'round, and building through the song.

Thanks guys. I appreciate you taking the time to have a listen and to post. Good suggestion about not playing on the first verse. Because we have two guitarists in the band I don't tend to play fills that much otherwise it can sound a bit too crowded. This song is an exception but I agree it changes things up if the fills only start on the second verse.

@Fil, I'm from Cheltenham, England. Myself and the band try not to take ourselves too seriously. It's all about having fun at the end of the day. We're certainly not in this game for the money!

Sounds great to me. You've got a nice tone on the harp. The hell with laying back. This is your song, so wail on baby! By the way, what rig are you blowing through? I see from another post that you bought a LW Harp Train 10 and from your post I assume it's not in action. I got one of my own and I'll stick a post over there.

I enjoyed it! I think the amount of harp in the song is fine (just vary your approach on different songs), the playing is fine, the tone is fine, and the lyrics work with that groove. The singer does a good job with it. Overall, I would enjoy seeing your band and hearing this song, but it is a bit too far from Illinois to drop by a gig...

However, someone needs to fix that electrical problem that keeps the lights flashing off and on... ;)

Overall lovely sound, good feel. If the ladies be up dancing, you're already doing something right.

Thanks again all. I appreciate you're encouragement.

@JTThirty I'm using a Bassman in the video. I bought the Harp Train for rehearsals and because I just like acquiring new gear!

@indigo, not yet although I'm thinking of doing a short video review at some point.
