Someone posted a question previously about this tuner but it didn't seem to generate many replies. Has anyone been using the StroboPlus for harmonica tuning? Your thoughts? How do the sweetener settings for various harp tunings seem to work? Thanks!

I am very familiar with this tuner. It has what they call sweeteners for numerous Hohner Models such as Original Marine Band, Modern Marine Band, Special 20, and Golden Melody, plus chromatic and more. All of the tunings are set for a C harp. To change keys, you either have to use the transpose feature, -6 to +5. Or, you can hold down the wheel, and turn it to the key you want. The GM and the Chromatics look like they are set to 442 and 443. The others seem to be set at 440. Then you get to change what value you want.

I haven't used one, but it's not a true analog strobe tuner - it's a software tuner. A very very good one, though.

There's a world of difference between what you can get from an electronic tuner and a tuner with an actual spinning stroboscope like the Conn (vintage, they got bought out) or Peterson strobe tuners. I have one of each.

That being said, a great tuner can make the job of tuning the harp easier, but the most important tools are your ears and your embouchure. There's no way around that; it's the nature of the instrument and how it's connected to our vocal tract.

I have one. I had to program it using peterson's online system.
I programmed it for the 3 types of harps I play : Just tuning, Seydel compromised, and Marine Band/Special 20 compromised.
It's a pain in the ass to program.

Hi! I actually bought one for this purpose... Personally, I find it rather jumpy for my tastes and ended up returning it and using pitchlab instead - on my phone. At some point I might splurge on a Peterson istrobo download, but for now the five octave strobe (with cent reading) from pitchlab is about perfect.
