I just posted some information about a new Milled Recessed Comb for the Suzuki HarpMaster on the 2015 For Sale thread and the new For Sale link. This is not the typical For Sale thread becuase I am also asking for input from those who are interested to get a feel for materials and quanitites I should make. I just purchased one and I will most likely get more. Florida-Trader informed me that my Manji reed plate with a Sub30 cover plates will work with this comb. So that is exactly what I intend to do with one of may Manji harps. I'm looking forward to this because I can tell it is going to be an airtight harp when it is done. Since the reed plates are recessed and the holes are closed off in the front, there is only one place the air can go and that is through the reeds.
I might just end up converting all my Manji's to this configuration.

@ Thieven. There are no bumps. When the metal is milled the end mill passes first in one direction and then the other. The cutting creates a swirling pattern which is being reflected by flash photography. It is an optical illusion.

i will need at least four(GCAD) right away and would like six-eight total.
my main interest is brass and acrylic,followed by aluminum.
i have heard great things about the special 20 version of this,so i am very excited.

Tom, I know those stripes are from the machine path, but are they really that flat that they are airtight?

A very effective optical illusion. I was looking for that and now, even knowing it's an illusion, I still can't see through it. I don't doubt you.

I have one of Tom's Special 20 combs with the same optical illusion. It's flat and air-tight.

^^^yes
it would fit a harpmaster,promaster,manji,firebreath,delta frost,bluesmaster,etc.and probably soul's voice.

kham - the ProMaster Reed Plates fit the comb but you wouldn't want to use thePro Master covers. The PM covers are designed to sit back off the front edge of the reed plate in the little groove. You want covers on this comb that will fit on top of the front edge of the reed plate - like a BluesMaster, HarpMaster or SUB-30.

or delta frost or soul's voice.there is a version of the soul's voice coverplate that has two holes,like venting ,on each side of the plate that makes it easily fit over the side reedplate screws.

sp 20 covers would fit,but might sit too far back. i would have to try it to be sure.
sp20 covers on a manji or promaster are pretty nice if you don't have the real deal suzuki covers.

Shakeylee - I should have some next week. I got some Corian, Aluminum and Fancy Acryic made. No brass yet. I'm out of brass but just ordered a big chunk to load up again.

I put together three harps last night with these new blue moon combs.
i am WAY beyond impressed.
i christened them at a show today,and they performed amazingly well.
i love them!!

BTW,on one,i used manji coverplates .i elongated the mounting holes on the covers and they work fine.
if you did the same thing to the holes on sp20 covers,they would work too.
