Yesterday I saw astatic with ceramic element for 320$. Two days ago - astatic with NOS crystal element for 120$.
And two years ago a guy sold his astatic JT-30 for 40$.ofcourse, thats insane price and it was broken I guess (or owner was realy dumb).
But what was the lowest price you paid for astatic or bullet and was it in good shape and playable? And what do you think its average or lets say minimum price for astatic with CM or ceramic good working element?

i have bought any number of bullet microphones for as low as $2. i bought several for $4. i bought a whole box of CM& CR elements for the price that i thought was for one. $11 dollars if i recall, for a printer paper case full of CB microphones with CM & CR's.

i have several hundred pounds of harmonica microphones.

most of these were from the early days of Ebay, when you could search under misspellings and gamble on auctions with no picture.

today,i think anywhere from 100-200 is fair for a working microphone,a particularly fancy 300. i think a shell ,with some exceptions(biscuit, etc.) should be under 100.

i once had a chance to buy several hundred astatic elements. i passed, doh!

i think when gaskets come back on the market,we'll see some hot microphones!!!

my first jt30 was bought at a store,brand new,for about $30.

blowsmeaway.com has gaskets now. Greg bought the moulds from Dave Scudamore's estate. Dave was the harpmicgaskets.com guy, and pass away last Fall.

I bought my working JT30 with a working crystal element (awesome) for $50 from a local instrument pawn. It looked terrible, but sounded great, so I refinished it and love it!

I once bought 12 Shure cop car mics for 12 bucks. Got 12 good 99a86 elements! Have had a couple of crystal elements but they don't hold up long. Never found a really good one. I would not pay 200 + for an old bullet but they do hold up very well. 100 buck for an empty shell is insane. 30 bucks sounds more right to me. JMO of corse. Like everything else, it's supply and demand. There seems to be a lot of hording going on. I noticed on a recent Ebay search that there are very few Turner type "custom" mics listed. These used to be everywhere. Hey, I got mine...BN

I paid $29.95 for my JT-30 from RI Music Store in Pawtucket, RI in 1990. I replaced the 127 element with a Black CR in the last few years and it works great.
I honestly don't think the shells are worth much, it's all about the element.
