What do you call a video that has one billion hits and more than four million DISlikes? Pop stardom. Somebody please explain both sides of the equation:

Just as importantly: here's a research challenge: What YT video that has harmonica in it has the most hits?

My off-the-cuff guess:

--Dylan
--Stones
--Stevie Wonder

But that's just a guess.

I see that only a little more than half of those who left a comment liked it. I assume that those who didn't vote were coaxed into looking at the first few seconds of the video, just like I was, and they ran away disgruntled and speechless. So, that adds up to over a billion dislikes.

Edit to wonder if it's believable that 1 of every 7 human beings (from infant to elderly) have loaded the video.

I'm not gonna press play now I know what the video is about... But maybe Bieber can record a blues album.

I haven't checked out how many hits other top harp videos have, but I quickly checked the hit total for Keisha/Pitbull's rip off of Lee Oskar's riff, and it's got close to half a billion views with 1.2 million likes and about 80k dislikes.

I think the hate comes from his personality. He comes off as a spoiled brat. Of course, that could just be marketing. I remember a few years back Donnie Osmond was got in a bar scuffle. When I heard about it I immediately was like, 'He's still alive? Huh, must be a rebranding bad boy publicity thing.' His album dropped the next month.

There might be something with harp out there with more hits than Kei$ha, but I suspect guys like Stevie Wonder don't have as many simply because at the height of any one of his songs popularity YouTube wasn't a thing yet.

I don't know if any of the videos where she plays harp are on the list, but Shakira gets hit totals up in the half a billion range too. A lot of the older bands, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, have so many pieces of video up, a lot of it pirated, but also lots of old concert video and talk show stuff,... that their hit counts may be scattered out over various channels.

you can't read much into the stats. it's hard to know how many of those likes and dislikes are machine-generated. marketers can also purchase likes, which agencies task to indian outsourcing providers. however, most humans who did view it were likely in the 12-14 age bracket - kids 12 liking it and kids 14 disliking it. i'm not sure anyone else cares.

it makes perfect sense that Dylan or the Stones (or Stevie Wonder) would have the highest number of views for a video with harmonica. if you ask the same question for clarinette, it's less obvious.

...now back to the woodshed.

This is a little specious. A billion vs 4 million isn't comparable. Plenty of people hate the Beiber, but it seems its far outweighed by those liking this vid.

I have over the years received messages advising (for a fee) that my hits on youtube will increase by X? I'm sure these huge stats are for some pop artists machine generated for a huge fee? I have not explored this path of deceit. But for just Harmonica there are 2 persons ie Christelle & Harproli that have themselves generated hits in the millions. Buying X No of hits might be the thing for some pop minions in order to maintain momentum? Who cares? I have seen great stuff, not necessarily harp, on YT that has been there for years with less than 100 hits.
