Sounding great mr. Wailer.
Down here there's the scourge of school kids murdering Christmas carols.
cheers, Mark.

Sounds good here in Miami.

Kept waiting for the hookers to appear but oh well.

Thanks King C. I doff my cap to you. I hear a trio doing the same such thing today.

Well spotted Goldbrick. I hadn't made the connection myself. LJ Hooker is a real estate franchise here; if they reversed the first two initials it would sound a lot cooler.

BTW, for non-Sydneysiders, urban dictionary has the following definition for "get off at Redfern."

"On the train line to the city in sydney, one of the last stops before the city is at a suburb called redfern. Thus, when you get off at redfern, you're exiting the train before getting to the main part, the city."

I.e., this refers to coitus interruptus.

It is fun to watch people's expressions as the penny drops....

That was great. Looked like you were successful from number of people throwing coin. Is busking lucrative in Sydney?

Couldn't help but notice the lack of bicycles and the slow moving cars...

Well done!

Geez thanks Paul. I think I owe you a beer or three.

@kham. "Lucrative" and "busking" are not words I would normally use in the same sentence. After three hours I might have enough for a new harp. This assuages the guilt I may feel from buying one.
I have gone as long as 40 minutes without a tip, so it varies considerably. I have seen some of the best suffer the same fate so I don't take it personally. The cars are slow moving because the traffic is so bad (although they sometimes shout encouragement from the windows) and Sydney is not a super friendly city for bicycles.
Do you busk? If not, I can highly recommend it.

Busking can lead to paid gigs and other interesting encounters, and is a great way to try out new stuff.

Whoa!! 40 minutes? The busking spot from hell.
You need to migrate down here to Melbourne.
Where are you buying the gold-plated harps? :)
cheers, Mark.

I sometimes feel that way KC. The live music scene is better south of the border it seems. If I was buying gold plated harps, it would definitely be fool's gold. The 40 minutes was in Martin Place; I was pretty green as a busker then. The problem with Martin Place is it is easy for the stream of traffic to avoid you.
Now I would just move on to a different location.(Melbourne sounds like a good idea).

kham I am very carful when cycling around town. There's a reason doctors refer to cyclists as "organ donors." I generally go to the Olympic precinct. I have fantasized about riding around the country but don't want to end up dead because someone was texting while driving.

Tall ships sounds like the Holy Grail of busking. I have investigated licences for Circular Quay but the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority wants $10m in public liability insurance. It costs about $500 a year if I recall correctly. My bog-standard Sydney licence is $45 a year.

Sydney is probably also the worst city for driving. The population keeps growing, the cars keep getting bigger and the roads are the same size.

@superbee Perth - Sydney took 4 months. Vancouver to St John's Newfoundland was 4 months too and I also rode Portugal to Vietnam and that was 362 days. All of those rides I had a harmonica rack on and would pump out train chugs and get a good groove on. People would hear something, see me ride by then double take what the heck just happened. Especially places like eastern Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Nepal etc... Places they rarely see white folk, let alone a white cake like me with a train sound whizzing past on a bicycle!
