....at the North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic Harmonica Workshop on Thursday, June 25, 2015 in Holly Springs, Mississippi.
He'll also be playing the festival, located about 8 miles south of Holly Springs, on Friday June 26.
I'm very excited about this, as is he. This may be the first time he's done a teaching event. It's certainly the first time he--or a harmonica player of his rank--has played the picnic in the ten years it's been in operation
Nemeth has been nominated for SIX Blues Music Awards.
I'm specifically going to request that he teach his approach to chromatic harp, which is powerful and distinctive, and also a class on introductory blues singing for the harmonica player.
John Nemeth, Jason Ricci, Brandon Bailey, and Adam Gussow. The one-day workshop lasts 9 to 4 and costs $100. There will be three 75-minute breakout sessions with individual teachers (you take your pick; all four will be teaching concurrently) and a 90-minute group session to end the day.
Later there will be a jam of some sort where we'll be joining the guitar workshop folks and their teachers, who are Kenny Brown, Luther Dickinson, Alvin Youngblood Hart, and DuWayne Burnside.
That should be a hell of a jam.
