Came across this singer/player on You tube purely by accident.Never heard of him before.I searched the forum archives and nothing came up.
Anyone seen him live?

He's a long standing Detroit fixture in that blues scene. I've played in his back up band (keys).

He's kinda unusual, in that he moves and feels the beat more like a white person - and that is not meant to raise any race issues...it is what it is.

Shah is a very nice guy. Used to work as a cab driver in Detroit. A while ago he was getting airplay on the Sirius XM blues channel. Last time I saw him he was telling me about touring in Australia.

I met him in Toledo Ohio at a Festival on the River back in the early to mid 90s, where I was backstage helping the lighting guy, who was a friend. He was unpacking a new set of Hohner Big Rivers and since I was just starting to play and had bought one, I questioned him on his choice of harps. He told me that he could not tell the difference between Big Rivers and Pro Harps and Blues Harps, so it was his harp of choice. He was basicly right.

He asked me to play for him, and sadly, at the time I was not very good, but he offered encouragement. He put on a great show.

I have a CD of his on the Electro-Fi label out of Toronto. I like it. Electro-Fi has some pretty fine talent in its stable. Check it out. I've noticed they have a sale between Christmas and New Year's every year.
