Is the boy autistic, blind or both?
Have had experience w/autistic people (being mildly autistic myself).
Some I have met have no social skills, but are incredible musicians. Autism allows one to filter out most of interactive society and focus on inner things, such as expressing music.
The young autistic boys I've met have given me that eye contact with a knowing wink to understanding, as I get where they are coming from.
