they sounded quite similar
the fender looks to be an eminence speaker
most likely chinese made.

the weber looked well made, from what i can see.
also made in china.

very slight difference in tone
not sure anyone in the audience could tell them apart.

IMO, Weber has more cut, clarity and a bolder honk. You probably could not tell the difference at a gig as 1847 stated. Nice playin Hawk...BN

Weber speakers are not made in China. Some of the components are sourced fron China but the speakers are assembled in Paducah, KY. I really like some Weber ceramics for harp. It sounded best in this comparison. Thanks for doing it.

Thank you for your comments!

It wasn't much difference. I agree with BN about the characteristics. The Weber was a little nastier so I will leave that in my 5E3. But the Fender Special, Eminence was OK too. I will not sell that.

The Weber was a Ceramic SIG-12-S 8 ohm 25 watt speaker.

Weber Signature series speakers are imported. Not sure of the place of origin.

I have yet to meet a Signature series speaker that I liked. Have not tried them all obviously. I prefer their, US made, Vintage series ceramic speakers.10F125, 10F150, 12F125, 12F150 are excellent speakers for harmonica IMO.

I don't want to hi-jack this topic but I am curious to where Weber speakers is located. I thought when Ted was still around it was Kokomo IN. This posting the city's own news from 2012 makes it sound as if Weber Speakers are still in Kokomo.

"Weber Speakers is one of Kokomo’s best-kept secrets. The company manufactures some of the most sought-after guitar speakers and amplifiers in the music industry, attracting artists from Arcade Fire to the Zac Brown Band and everything in between. And it recently moved into a new home on the city’s south side.

“We’re excited that it worked out for us,” said T.A. Weber, owner of Weber Speakers. “We’re very happy here. This is really the first time we’ve had a showroom -- a place where guys can come in and try out some gear.”Posted: Thursday, November 22, 2012 9:27 am

I was going to order a speaker from Weber in USA but they never answered my question about the shipping cost to Sweden. That's arrogant behaviour I think. So I ordered from another company in England but they didn't have that many to choose from.

I am a 10 yr veteran of the Weber Forum so I posted the question of where Weber speakers are made. Got the following response:

I've visited the assembly facility in Kokomo. They have 3 or so assembly stations, and I saw 3 dozen or so speakers laying face down on the carpet floor, drying, each with an order tag. That is where they assemble and test all the non-Sig models, custom to order. Now, they *claim* the Sig models are mass assembled in a plant just outside Indy, and shipped up.

wgs yes?

http://www.tube-town.net/

"Building on the popularity of the WGS G12C, WGS developed the G12Q for those times when you want the speaker to add some natural, vintage breakup but maintain clarity. With a 20 oz magnet and a 1" voicecoil, the G12Q definitley has a vintage American flavor. WGS highly recommend it with 5E3 style circuits."
