...and then it's an onslaught of the noisiest videos I can devise to motivate Jinx to purchase some ear plugs for when I come into the room.

So the post with the mysterious goodbye, then an upgrade(?) to a sabbatical that you follow up with a vid that will probably bring criticism that you may not want to hear...?
I THINK I see the humor.

psychologically speaking, your actions are indeed "interesting".

Can't wait for Act III.

Critique your playing?
Much of it is too fast for my taste.
Take away the BT and it sounds like +6 minutes of noodling.
Granted, there are some very nice runs thrown in and some skilled techniques, but I wouldn't listen twice.

Yeah! I like this much more. Seems like a little turbulence is just what you needed to bring some passion and emotion back to your playing. If you're not excited we're not excited.
Taking away the bt is a cool idea, I would love to hear you play to just a beat that you like. So you create a song or play a song you like and fill it with your mad fills then bust out a mad solo over more bars than necessary then bring it back home. Some contrast would make your awesome effortless speed and technique stand out even more.

Yes! I love this. The minimalistic backing suits your style great and the vintage jazzy horn sound you have in this song is spot on here IMHO.

I think it's funny that "Modern Blues Harmonica" forum is full of men who just like the classic blues harmonica style!
Keep up the good work and keep your style Ted.

I'm glad it was a short hiatus! I like that first one a lot. (It's 4:50 in the morning and I think the plague of anxiety that has kept me up has been resolved enough to the point that I may now be able to sleep, so I think I'll save the second one for tomorrow.)

@ arnenym ,

Most definitely the forum is "full of men here who just like classic blues", I am one of them ..
however & not to be funny ..
One example of 'modern' .. there is a huge respect and following here for Moon Cat aka Jason Ricci
a man who takes 'modern blues harp' to the extreme edge of the music and instrument ..

Ted like many others here are talented in their own right ,
Once again ... when someone posts in a public forum asking for feedback or in this case "make fun of me" .. good, bad, or indifferent .. that's what they are going to get ..

I liked the 2nd one.
Though you played during the entire BT, it wasn't too much.
You started out slow and it built. I do not know if that was intentional or if you fell into your usual MO.

Second example was a little easier for me to listen to, although I feel that there are too many ideas flying by constantly for the music to grab me. Therefore, I would listen to it once and not feel a gravitational pull to experience it again.

Within your plethora of ideas, I am starting to hear many of the same lines played over and over again.

Interesting that when the music slowed down, rather than follow and simplify your ideas, you chose to go even faster and more obtuse. Perhaps you could explore the slower simpler suggestions that many have voiced at junctures like this.

Also, poking at Jinx for your reasons to record examples diminishes the artistry, IMO.

Ted Jimmy Bruno is one of the most technically proficient guitarists in the world but here he goes laid back.

I think being tasty is better than being fireball fast all the time

I liked the 2nd one even more than the first. I enjoyed the more restrained playing with short breaks (critics, attend: he took the harp out of his mouth!) throughout the majority of the video. Nice job!

I generally think that building during a solo to faster play as a climax is an acceptable way to structure a solo. It would have been more effective if you had built to your fast part (12 or perhaps 24 bars at most) just BEFORE the track slowed. It would have been a dramatic ending to first show flash, then end with strong simple statements over the slower chords at the end.

I liked it a lot, though speeding up when the chords slowed at the end didn't work for me.

Glad you stuck around Ted, I always enjoy your videos. The ability to play fast like you do is something not a lot of us can do. You'll put it all together someday and the naysayers will find someone else to pick on.

Well at least you are the most famous modernbluesharmonican! For now, besides Adam of course. I enjoyed the video. A lot of nice idéas in there. But a six minute solo is hard to keep interesting.

i liked the part where you close your eyes.
i always wonder.... what the heck is he watching,
then it occurs to me.... he is recording a soundtrack
to an adult film.

you have done 400 videos sitting down
i would like to see, just one time you standing up,
and playing with your eyes closed.

ted you are a well liked member of this chat room,
glad you are here.

Ted you got some good licks and chops. Stay with the feeling and leave off of all the technical jargon here and go out and play. Sit in, jam, busk, anything, get out and play. An audience is much more fun than a cam.
