Best video I have seen on overblows!

He goes away from the ""draw bend it, hold the shape, and blow" technique as well as others. He gets away from the tension related "pop" the overblow instruction.

He talks about overblowing softly with the face relaxed.

I am happy to find this video because some of what he said supports some of my comments from an earlier post about bending overblows. He says "get as much space in mouth cavity as possible, tongue low and out of the way, lips relaxed, round open sound.

IMHO he is throat bending in this video. He says tongue low, so that leaves the throat to do the bending. This gives him the control and tone on his overblow and it's bends.

He says "control over power". His relaxation and soft playing, combined with a large resonator gives him the control.

I also agree with practicing the extreme overblow bending. Sure you won't use it at a show, but it makes the ones you do use very easy indeed.

It really is. Blow bending in this fashion is not talked about often. Todd I know does it.

Tinus is an amazing player and was one of the first on scene/social media teaching and discussing OB/OD. He has provided a lot of useable information out there for for the public and his forum on the topic although years old still has solid information.

Tinus is also making custom OB/OD harps now, as well.
Great video and he is certainly employing the advanced techniques that woodwind and brass teachers have been advocating for years.

Good stuff by Tinus and had this not been posted here, I may not have seen it.

Logic says the same thing should work on an overdraw by bending draw 7 until it sounds, but it's a little tougher. Just glad to see someone teaching overbends based on relaxation and big resonator.

IMHO Tinus' instruction on Overbending is the only one that matters to me. I followed his methodology and I believe it is the most effective and comprehensive method I have ever come across. I'm glad he is getting some well deserved recognition on this forum.

Harpdude, I am confused. I have never been able to throat bend. Then I watched a Lee Sankey video. He says he throat bends. Then he proceeds to explain he raises the back of his tongue and the throat raises with it. He states the concept of throat bending does not mean you do not involve your tongue, it just means you do not involve your lips or your jaw. How relieved I was! I have been throat bending for years, I just didn't understand the definition.

Now I read your post and it seems to suggests the tongue does not move when you throat bend. Perhaps I misunderstand you. Please elaborate.

Nice, I'll add this to my watch list. My overdraws and some overblows cause me to sweat bullets when practicing with metronome, lol.
