Oh sorry, I deleted that. I had a post deleted once without my permission. I didn't like it. I didn't think this was right either. In fact I thought it disgraceful. But I felt it was probably best to just not say. Too late though, this time.

As soon as the cognitive dissonance subsides, I'm sure you'll see you missed the point...

Ha! This is getting even better...

*** note - there was a post deleted in between my posts - no need to explain why - just that it was - and was - funny...***

Like jnorem, I'm here for the facts. I rely on others' experiences on a given topic to help me decide on what to do in a certain direction. I also look forward to contributing my experience and the knowledge I've gleaned from many years' worth of musical trench warfare. There is nothing like nuts and bolts experience to lend a real and true perspective.
We all have opinions and we all have experience, and both are of value.
There have been threads and posters which I have just decided it's easier and more productive to ignore. Opinion mongering for its splash value is not worth my attention. Sharing in the rich body of peoples' experiences about playing a tin sandwich, finding peers, looking up a jam here or there, buying and selling, getting the lowdown on new harp offerings and support gear, these are the reasons I'm here. I have had a lot of good times here over recent years.
Quality of moderation is key to good forum experience.

And Mama always said, say something nice or nothing at all. The hot air rises and dissipates over time J.

Relax, J. It was just satire. You're behaving as though some sacred moral code was broken here--the same way Sonny Rollins and many of his fans behaved when The New Yorker ran their piece "in his words." But as you yourself insisted in Sonny's case, everybody knew--or should have known--where reality stopped and satire began. So absolutely no harm was done in either case. Right?

We're just having fun. It's just satire. Everybody gets that. "kudzurunner" and "Gussow" (!) offered plenty of clues to make that clear, just so that no feelings would be hurt. It's just satire: a one-time thing, for the purposes of illustration and enlightenment. No biggie.

i was going to post this on another thread but it was locked.
I saw that Sonny Rolins piece and immediately knew it was a joke.
I am not going to go down the path of whether it was satire or not, I will leave that to the bookworms out there. It was a joke, plain and simple. Anyone who took it seriously or has pontificated how it a slap agianst Sonny, grow up. You took it was to serious. sheesh

As disturbing as all of this is (including Frank getting fragged), Adam did apologize and promised not to repeat. We all have imperfect moments.

I love it! Thanks, Jay. You've made my day. If you still reside in Atlanta, please come down to the gig. Northside Tavern, 7:30-10:30 today. I'll buy you a beer and get you up to play a tune on chromatic.

Adam, what you did has nothing to do with satire. It was unethical.

I get that was the point Adam was making, but the point only applies to most credulous among us, and for those I have, as Honkin on Bobo said, some nice beachfront property in Kansas going cheap.

Adam: put me on the list and I'll think about it.
