I have one of these. Stock circuit but freshened, original cab. These things sound awesome and will definatly stand up to a band. This one needs caps as the seller states.

The B models with 6V6's are more desirable for harp. I never played an EL34 model. I won that mint R600B on ebay recently. Just had it serviced because it was all original.
Monster harp amp!

6V6 more desirable, can't prove it by me. I have several 6V6 amps here. I don't think they have the grit or the honk of my 6BQ5/EL84 (not EL34) amps. The EL84's cut nicely. 6V6 is smoother EL84 is in your face. JMO of cores. Congrats on the score, that is a nice amp...BN

My HO? The 500...(in the words of Scotty, "no bloody, A, B, C, or D") is awesome for harp. Its a 5E3 without the finicky cathodyne inverter. I love the one my bandleader has.

Tube swaps ok but this one has a switched cabinet. That's good for furniture but NOT necessarily amps. They called the original "cheesy" but it may have been just the right material. The cabinet is part of what resonates in an amp -critical. Your experience with this amp worked great with the original cabinet (for harp).
